the problem with this list is that it will be very difficult for someone to get a hold of much of what was recorded by a lot (most?) of these groups.
this would be a big project but i would be happy to help with it: should there be an archival sac page where these recordings are digitized and made available online? i am partly inspired to suggest this because of the flower vato's recent post of archival footage of shows i didn't know were recorded in the world of facebook.
or should we just get on with our lives?

:There are tons of great Sacto/Davis bands that never tour or get much local attention, but those who know, out the world, as well as here in the area, where the goods are, constantly praise our little corner of the world for what does get created here. This is not a comprehensive list, but bands that have been important in my life that are no longer around, some of the people are, adn they're still putting our good tunes.

:i really liked corpse fucks corpse and new maps out of hell, personal influences... but others may agree that the popesmashers, yahmos, pretty girls, lil bunnies, fm knives, electro group, tangles, duchess of saigon, Big D, 24 hour vampire, sexy prison, get get go, ni-fi knife fight, antennaes erupt, sweaty vibrant, gift of goats, shove, rocketship, tiger trap, (early) delayed sleep, bright ideas, ski instructors, nar, who's your favorite son now god, eat the people, lookyloos, the frenchmen, sunshine smile, the knightmares, sucks, living breathing music, klondike and york... there many more of deceased bands, but this is enough for now... this commenter's suggested listening should be expanded.

:::lesson to be learned from successful music groups: work very hard and stay focused, then enjoy the rewards of your contribution. sounds bomb to me.

::::Mayyors and Ganglians are two of the best msuical exports this city has had in a long time. Death Grips is what it is, take it or leave it, but Zach Hill has been doing his part as well. all these folks ar ejsut a mere slice of what this entire community has to offer...

::::Best thing anyone can do is change the situation by starting a multitude of bands, self-promoting thorugh positive netowrking, and creating a space for this to happen (probably the most difficult by far). You can be 17 or 43, as long as it is about doing it to do it, for whatever reason, as there are many.

::::If this is too idealistic, make it more realisitic. Sacramento is a great place with just the right amount of art for its diverse yet fare complexion... you want it to be better, stay here (instead of moving), put in the time (great art does not happen over night), and live here like it is the greatest place to be (or move to find your ideal, but the grass is only so green).

:::::Mayyors are pretty cool guys. they play in hipster festivals and doesnt afraid of having people actually hear of them music

:::::it figures the shithole that is Sac would be stuck ininb4 tendencies. do a favor and stop listening to music please... you are degrading its value
