Friday, April 6th
@ 802 Villanova Dr. (map) 7:30 p.m. sharp!
The most played band on Freeform KDVS 90.3 FM in Davis since 2007 began, Little Claw are from Detroit, Michigan, and are something akin to a Hospitals or Sic Alps if only either band was led by an awesome charismatic firebrand of a female vocalist. Their musical cues come from having studiously sponging from Midwest protopunk and artpunk pioneers such as Michael Yonkers, Mike Rep, Electric Eels, etc. In fact, the band have a new collaboration EP of Little Claw with Michael Yonkers due very soon, if not in time for this West Coast tour. Members also appear in Tyvek and Thee Scarcity of Tanks.
From Vancouver, BC, Canada, comes Winning, a new band featuring Andy, best known these days for his awesome fun glitch-crète project Secret Mommy and formerly of Red Light Sting, and Jack, formerly of Radio Berlin, A Luna Red, and Primes. These dudes never let you down before, and with probably the most Beefheart-damaged post-HC I've ever heard, I think it's safe to guarantee your satisfaction with this band, too. It sounds kinda like Party of Helicopters and U.S. Maple merged into a wholly new and other monster.
There's no local band because this show needs to be a quick, concise hit. KDVS staff has cooperated to make April 6th a night you will not forget. Show up early and rock out to these rad touring bands, then dance the night away at Ed's house (of Ed & Remy fame) with DJ's Fuzzbox Flynn, Ruby, Jess, Clara, Nora & Todd. Not sure if I can publicize the address of that, but I know that you will be more than welcome to follow your new friends over to that party if you show up to this awesome rock show.
Donate $3-6 for bands to afford gas and feel appreciated. They will also have things like CDs and records and t-shirts for sale.
