There was a time when Sacto shows started late, and Davis shows started on time. And back in those days, you could show up to any Sacto show at the time indicated on the flier, and there'd be a dozen Davis people there waiting for Sacto to show up.

But for the last couple of years, Davis crowds are also late-arriving. It can't be because of jadedness, can it? I mean...Davis crowds are still more "into it" than Sacto crowds by and large (although the recent rash of awesome youngbloods and gals from Carmichael and Roseville have been evening that playing field!).

Every DAM House show has been pretty much ready to start on time, but we've been waiting for crowds to arrive. I just think that's gotta stop.

10:00 is the noise curfew. If you show up at 8:30, that gives us 90 minutes to make an entire show happen, which is unrealistic for most bills.

Saturday, I'm prepared to play to a light crowd and tell latecomers, "Sorry...you missed it!" Guilt-trip you all! You'll wish you were there. You'll never show up late again.

Hence, "It's beginning to and back again."

And as for mid-period Wire being shitty...

"Manscape" was fucking awful! I'll grant you that! All other 80's Wire is wrongly hated and sorely underrated. Go back and listen to it.

How come everyone lost their shit about "Read & Burn" and "Send," and yet those albums really don't sound much different than "IBTABA" or "The Third Letter"?

Actually, the best moments on "The Third Letter" are really good! But then again, I'm a Wire diehard who tried like hell to stay current on his collection of every Wire-related solo or side-project: Colin Newman, Dome, He Said, even Duet Emmo, AC Marias...
