:FIRM BERIEF IS A WORLD COVER [OR TRIBUTE???] BAND CHAD TELLS ME. THAT IS THE BAND WORLD. NOT THE WORLD CALLED EARTH WE SPEND TIME ON.

World from Japan...not World from Portland which has members of Nudge and Yume Bitsu in it. World from Japan was a three-piece grind/noisecore group consisting of a drummer and two vocalists.

One vocalist did regular guttural screaming/yelling vocals that sounds like Tottsuan from SxOxB. Okay, that's too rare a reference for 99.9% of you, but maybe you've heard Discordance Axis or some shit on Relapse with similar vokill action.

The over vocalist make mouthsounds like the dude Michael Winslow from "Police Academy" movies, but he runs them through effects to purposely fuck'em up. There's moments on the "Space Grind Osaka" EP where the dude resonates some kinda throat singing through reverb and some other effects to make a very psychedelic sound, but mostly it sounds like grinding guitars and scraping metal.

I wrote Chad a little message about some records I'd recommend in the realm of Japanese hardcore, and I mentioned World with a bit of a description, and then he ordered every record he could find by them, and now there's a World tribute band. Wow...I should keep writing about weird music I like.

:QUEM QUAERITIS IS SOME GUYS THAT PLAY INSIDE OF A CAMPING TENT. RICK SAW THEM AND SAID IT WAS PRETTY ENTERTAINING.

I did see QQ at Grandma's House in Oakland, and it was pretty funny. They played in a dome tent with a vestibule in the front. It was kinda like a free dance-drone-punk kinda thing that was pretty heavy on the triumphant vibe...kinda like Friends Forever's "Killball" CD. But the real fun was warring with them as they threw yarnballs and shit out the dome top, and fans were throwing everything back into the dome top. Weasel Walter was there, and he was practically slam-dunking yarnballs in the top of the tent like Shaq. It was hilarious.

I can only hope Martin will play the role of Shaq this time.
