god willing + lazy magnet = dudes of mine from providence. i can vouch for ren in particular being an awesome dude and pretty funny to talk to. bring beer and some bloody mary mix maybe and you will have a good time and make new friends.
they flew out to the west coast for free by collecting wendy's drink cups that were good for frequent flyer miles for some airline promotion they have out here in new england. at least i think it's just new england, i haven't heard about it anywhere else.
i don't recall these projects in particular but from what i've seen of their other bands expect above-average material. here's a blurb i pulled off http://www.hop-frog.com/dungmummyUPCOMING.htm
____________
Lazy Magnet is 10 bands trapped inside one man's body. Jeremy Harris,
the bastard brain child that is Lazy Magnet is probably one of the
more versatile musicians in the arena of say Ween or Half-Japanese. He
lays down the law from country ballads to 80's hair metal to deaf
techno to slow dance waltzes. 11 years of fighting the dragon results
in a totally compositionally primitive representation ala bobby conn
of trying to smash everything he loves about life and music into 15
seconds worth of inspired musical flailing. pop, death metal, country,
dark folk and zombie-movie doom-synth...jeremy hopes that its all here
for you as he prepares his eternal throne in the invisible dominion of
the secret order peopled by such warriors as joe preston, jad fair,
noise nomads and kites by jamming fearlessly into outer space.
God Willing - With the chorus all the way up, Ren Schofield delivers
an onslaught of quizzical pop songs that sound as much like pavement
as they do weird al. Putting the "coventional" in "unconventional".
Ren Schofield darts around the musical radar like an ADHD stricken
eight year old let loose in midtown Manhattan. His songs are honest,
yet barely so, as you never know what his idea of the truth actually
is. He tried going to college, but couldn't put his heart in it. With
his frustrations over life's early 20 somethings' bore the great
monolyth Japanese Afterlife Kareoke Experiment which Ren played drums
for. When all the steel and knives had killed that groggy bloated
beast he realized his only choice left was full fledged pop stardom.
Impregnable - As a member of RAINBOW BLANKET and MEN WHO CAN't LOVE,
JEFF WITSCHER (aka IMPREGNABLE) has destroyed live audiences and the
cassette community with his passion and ferocity. Absolute, pure and
complete, Impregnable is at the top of the new wave of Los Angeles
harsh noise.
