I didn't say what I said for the sake of me or my shows...I said it for the sake of Liz, Fools Foundation, local and touring musicians, and the fans who might wanna see them. I don't appreciate being called insensitive here publicly.
I don't approve of people making racist jokes, and I don't accept drunkenness as an excuse for even the rarest off-color remark. But I also don't accept the your attitude and assigning guilt by association.
I don't even think you'd be ready right now to forgive the person if he came to you and got on his knees, crying, and renouncing his ignorance.
The wronger person is still Eason, and he must meet the wronged party more than halfway. But it still takes some effort on the wronged's part to be open and willing to forgive.
Again, I don't think drunkenness at a wild party is an excuse for saying what he said, but there does seem to be ample evidence that this stupid comment came from a place of ignorance and not hate. Ignorance is an easy problem to rectify...You just hafta learn what you need to know.
