He played in several bands, but the principal ones in my mind are...

Pope Smashers
Yah Mos
New Maps Out of Hell
Sweaty Vibrant

All four of those were great bands to see, so if you saw 'em, you likely didn't forget...especially the first three in that list. He played a really curious frenetic style of drums that suited these bands so well.

I had heard he was making music with some Pope Smashers friends again recently, and I was very excited to hear them or see them soon.

This is a major bummer.
