jesus christ...

:
:There were some issues with the show that Sucks played....yes, it is true. The owner of the building was not happy with hearing this terribly loud racket that sounded totally unmusical to his ears. It also didn't help there there were more people on the stage than actually in the audience. Had there been at least 30-40 people in there at the time, maybe it woulda been different. It has been disappointing to me that many folks who appear at house shows are not showing up at Luigi's shows.
:
:The owner of the building put Luigi's on notice that things needed to change, citing stylistic problems with the kindsa bands he was noticing there. There's still plenty of shows that can happen there, but just not anything really wild and noisy or anything that seems "too scary" to the owner.
:
:You can try all you want to explain that these so-called "scary"-sounding bands don't bring freaks and satanists into the venue, but rather just a buncha polite musicgeeks and record collector nerds....it doesn't really matter. I just wish that he had been there when The Drums and Z's played....that was the weirdest show there so far, and yet it was also the best attended. 63 paid, 8 winners of free tickets from radio promotion, 3 band guests, plus staff and bands...I counted over 80 people in the room at once ON A TUESDAY NIGHT!!! The pizza sales next door were pretty brisk.
:
:But I'm afraid that the landlord's idea of what is "good taste" is not open enough to accomodate everyone here. So what's new?
:
:What I don't wanna see is people bagging on the owners of Luigi's Slice. They have been very supportive and still wanna do the best we can with the space. But the directive is coming from above them.
:
:So, I've had to cancel a few shows...
:
:Tomorrow night's show w/ Hawnay Troof, unKut:Hunks, Tent/City, and NRVZ is now happening at 3009 E Street. That's a house on the edge of (can you believe it?) McKinley Park. Dude says shows have happened there before without a problem....we'll see! Gotta find a PA rig to bring over there.
:
:Friday, Sept 5th...Curse of the Birthmark with Chad Stockdale Quartet and TBA is now Venue TBD
:
:Saturday, September 20th....Shearing Pinx plus the Freebasers and TBA needs a venue.
:
:Thursday, September 25th....Silentist and Trees plus TBA needs a venue.
:
:There's a buncha shows in the Fall now that I hafta pound pavement for to get a venue....AIDS Wolf and AH Kraken from France plus TBA on November 20 is now without a venue.
:
:Yet, there's plenty of good shows that are still gonna happen at Luigi's Fun Garden. The Intelligence, Human Eye w/ Elmapi from France, Mattress, Electric Jellyfish from Australia...all this stuff is the kinda stuff you've come to expect from me in the past. The "Fun" will not be totally missing from the Fun Garden.
:
:Surely, though, they do wanna program some more pop-oriented stuff that's easier to please even your average passers-by......for that, I hope people with interest in that stuff and contacts with bands that make that kinda music will step up to help out.
:
::its true. downtown is getting infested with a bunch of dorks.
::i heard mom and/or sucks were banned because they didn't sound musical enough and that you could hear their noise in the eating area and the owner freaked..but keep in mind thats just what i heard..this could be untrue.
::
:::Dude whose idea was it to book MOM at a venue like Luigis anyways? I can see it now... family eating pizza in the main dining room.. Dad pokes his head around the corner to see what all the ruckus is.. and sees MOM doing her best GG Allen impersonation. Yeah great idea! Sac needs a venue like the Cattle Club.. of the beaten path so as not to disturb the sensitive suburbanites.
:::
:::
::::I've been hearing all sorts of stuff, but I'd like to know what really is going on with Luigi's Fun Garden?
